Stage II of Somerset Specialist Centre provides a private health facility above three basement levels to facilitate the expansion and growth further to the occupancy success of Stage I. The ground floor is intended to activate the public domain by providing a café and health consulting rooms, whilst the upper floors have been designed to allow for flexibility of future fit-outs. The architectural style complements the neighbouring Somerset Specialist Centre and the adjacent public car park building. The importance of the relationship between the design of physical environments and optimal health outcomes is at the core of our design ethos. Ultimately, we have endeavoured to design a building that can provide a meaningful experience by humanising spaces with organic forms and robust materials that will add to the Councils vision of ‘The Quarter’ whilst providing patients with the recognised and tangible healing benefits gained through healthcare environments focused on positive human interaction, access to natural light and views to nature.
