Proposed mixed-use development building within the same health hub precinct as the existing Calvary John James Hospital & Peter Yorke Building in Deakin, Canberra, ACT is part of a revisitation of the site. The lower two floors are proposed to comprise a 91 place childcare centre with both indoor and outdoor play spaces across a landscaped ground floor area and upper floor balcony. The upper two floors will comprise of medical consulting rooms on each floor. The consulting rooms will function separately but complement the existing hospital on site.
While these two land uses share a building, the lobbies have been designed to give separate entrances and facilities for each use so that there should be no need for users of each business to disrupt one another. The building's form has been shaped by the need to retain the existing driveway that traverses through the site, resulting in a playful shape to address the important entry corner.
