Ayr is a mixed-use development of ground-floor retail and two floors of residential over, positioned in a vibrant part of Bondi Beach. The area has a balanced ratio of retail shops, cafes, markets and residential accommodation. This site has been planned by considering the upgraded public space of seven ways. The building is designed to connect with the site's surroundings and the vibrancy of the street. This area has gone through and continues to go through a significant renewal with the arrival of a new mixed-use building on the corner and the commencement of another mixed-use building two doors up. The design for this building is an overall rectangular form, built to the street edges and broken up with varying levels of transparency and openness, which provides a changing relationship between the occupants, the passers-by and the open spaces of the building.
