Located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, the adaptive reuse of State Heritage Listed ‘NSW Sports Club’ has transformed the building into contemporary retail and commercial premises. Meticulously restored, it offers creative spaces that have retained their historic features whilst enhancing its current functionality. The building has been restored with exposed ceiling herringbone bracing, grey ironbark timber floors, fine steel door profiles, brass hardware details and an enhanced character façade.
SRH Architecture collaborated closely with the Client, Contractor, Consultants and the City of Sydney Council to resolve the complexities of retrofitting modern requirements into the unique heritage fabric within the project budget and time frame. The intricacies of heritage adaptation were centred closely around conservation and building compliance requirements, resulting in an outcome which celebrates its past while catering to the needs of a contemporary inner-city establishment.
